Many funding agencies are asking grant applicants to submit a data management plan, known as a DMP, describing the types of data they will collect and how they plan to maintain and share it. DMPs protect the researcher and research subjects by making sure the project complies with ethical and legal requirements. The plans also help researchers raise the profile of their work by making their data more accessible to others and available for future use.
The DMPTool, a library resource for WCU researchers, offers nearly 40 templates specific to funders’ guidelines. Librarians will assist with a review of the plan when it is completed. Additionally, the library can help with data sharing and archiving through WCU’s institutional repository NC DOCKS and the Odum Institute Dataverse.
