Scottie Kapel was recently hired as Hunter Library’s first Outreach & Scholarly Communication Librarian. In this position, she will educate the campus community on copyright guidelines for material use in instruction or scholarship as well as advocate copyright protection for content creators. Kapel will advise faculty and students in the use of high quality open access resources and identification of predatory publishers. Lastly, she will support undergraduate research efforts on campus, particularly the creation and use of scholarly products by both students and faculty.
Kapel joined Hunter Library in October 2016 as Electronic Resources Access Coordinator. Previously, she served as Assistant Librarian at the Episcopal School of Jacksonville in Florida. She received a master’s degree in library and information science at the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and a bachelor’s degree in English at the University of North Florida.
