CareZone, a two-hour program that provides instruction in understanding mental illness in day-to-day life, will be offered from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, September 13, in the Cardinal Room at Western Carolina University’s A.K. Hinds University Center. Participants will have an opportunity to develop a basic understanding of the disorders recognized in the fifth edition of the American Psychiatric Association’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM 5) and to learn to be effective allies of people with mental illness. CareZone is a DegreePlus event and is open to WCU faculty, staff and students. To register, contact Jessica Zellers at jhzellers@wcu.edu or 828-227-3801.
